Eduroam network

International network for educational and scientific institutions (Eduroam on Wiki)

  • Account must be activated by setting it up in Usermap.
  • Login is done using a username in the form of an e-mail address username@cvut.cz.
  • You can log in wherever the Eduroam network broadcasts (coverage in CZ) or (coverage worldwide).
  • Follow the CTU guide for the Eduroam wireless network
    • For correct and secure setup, it is strongly recommended to use the configuration tools "geteduroam" or "eduroam CAT".
    • Remove existing profile first in case of non-functional configuration (e.g. on Windows using the command: netsh wlan delete profile "eduroam").
Guest wireless network

The wireless network named CVUTGuest is intended for users without access to Eduroam (e.g., for installing Eduroam configuration tools, conferences, workshops, ...).

  • The network named CVUTGuest requires authentication using a shared password (WPA-Personal security).
  • Current wifi credentials will be displayed in the form of a QR code (for mobile devices) and text containing the network name (SSID) and password (PSK).
  • The password is rotated weekly, at midnight from Saturday to Sunday (credentials valid for the following week).
Other WiFi networks

Shared and Technical Device Connectivity

  • Devices supporting WPA-Enterprise:
    • Use the existing network named "eduroam" with local credentials valid only within faculty buildings.
    • Require manual configuration with the identity in the format: service@fjfi.local.
    • Requests must be submitted via ServiceDesk and include device details (registration) and intended use.
  • Devices supporting only WPA-Personal:
    • Due to technical limitations, support is provided only to a very limited extent.
    • Please contact the ServiceDesk.

Wi‑Fi Connectivity for Large Events

  • Provided only in exceptional cases where the guest network cannot be used (e.g., due to password rotation).
  • A dedicated wireless network (SSID) is created with authentication via a shared password (PSK).
  • Configuration is handled by the IT department based on a ServiceDesk request, which must include:
    • network name (SSID),
    • coverage location (building, room numbers),
    • period during which the network is to be active.
  • The person submitting the request is responsible for any incidents and their resolution.
