Windows 10 support coming to an end

In relation to end of support for regular Windows 10 in October 2025 you will need to switch to a supported operating system. Newer Windows 11 comes with hardware requirements that may not be met even on 4+ year old computers (Windows 11 support checker app). If your computer does not currently meet the requirements and you still want to use it, then you have the following options:

• in case of missing TPM 2.0
  • some motherboards allow enabling the software TPM
  • motherboard BIOS update may now make software TPM available
• buy ESU (Extended Security Update) support for up to three years using CTU contract with MS
  • support till 13.10. 2026 at 1,29€
  • support till 12.10. 2027 at 3,88€
  • support till 10.10. 2028 at 9,06€
• Windows 10 installation can be replaced with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
  • supported until January 2027 (reinstallation required)
  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise with support until January 2032 is not part of our licensing
• switch to another supported operating system (e.g. Linux distributions)

There are also guides on how to bypass the minimum hardware requirements for running Windows 11, but these do not guarantee the functionality of the system after updates or Microsoft directly warns that updates may not work on such a system and this is not compatible with the requirements for the supported OS. This unsupported installation can't be used for MFA with Windows Hello for Business.
